Overview of the foundation

The PUSD Special Education Foundation, established in 2009, is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to enhance the educational experiences and success of students served by the Poway Unified School District. The Foundation does this through mini-grants that special education teachers and providers can apply and enhance students learning experience.

Since our inception, our focus has remained steadfast - enhancing educational success.

The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors through the rules set in the bylaws. They are responsible for selecting projects and dispensing funds. The Foundation's Board of Directors generates support for activities that inspire teachers and students to:

  • Expand their educational horizons
  • Open new doors
  • Learn and dream
  • Surpass expectations
  • Achieve excellence
  • Improve student achievement

Through individual mini-grants the Foundation funds enrichment projects that will enhance educational programs. Examples are:

  • Technology
  • Special materials
  • Academic enrichment
  • Teaching aids
